About Sorteo Extraordinario de Vacaciones

The Sorteo Extraordinario de Vacaciones is a special Spanish Lotería Nacional draw generally held during July. Five-digit ticket numbers from 00000–99999 are entered, with a major first prize and an additional special award linked to a specific series and fraction.

How It Works

Each full ticket, known as a billete, carries a five-digit number and is divided into ten equal portions called décimos. Players normally purchase a single décimo. The main prizes are determined by the five-digit ticket number, while the largest special award also requires the winning series and fraction to match. Additional prizes may be awarded for approximations, matching hundreds, final digits and reintegros according to that year’s official prize programme.

Jackpot & Rollover

The Sorteo Extraordinario de Vacaciones does not have a rolling jackpot. Its prize fund and number of ticket series are fixed separately for each annual edition. The first prize normally pays €2 million per full ticket in each series, equivalent to €200,000 per décimo. A further special prize is awarded to the décimo that matches the First Prize number together with the selected series and fraction. The official programme should be checked annually because its detailed prize structure may change.

Tax Information

Spanish lottery prizes are generally exempt from tax up to €40,000 per winning décimo. Any portion above this allowance is normally subject to 20% withholding tax, deducted before payment. Based on a €200,000 first prize for one décimo, €160,000 is taxable, producing a €32,000 deduction and a net payment of €168,000. Larger special prizes are taxed using the same allowance and withholding rate. Where a décimo is shared, the allowance and taxable prize are divided among the owners according to their respective shares. Non-Spanish residents may also have obligations in their country of residence.
