About Canada Lotto 6/49
Lotto 6/49 is a Canadian national lottery drawn every Wednesday and Saturday. The game combines a Classic Draw, in which six Winning Numbers are drawn from 1–49, with a separate Gold Ball Draw offering either a guaranteed $1 million prize or a growing Gold Ball Jackpot.
How It Works
Each standard Lotto 6/49 play consists of six numbers selected from 1–49 for the Classic Draw, together with a separate computer-generated Gold Ball Draw number. In the Classic Draw, six Winning Numbers and one Bonus Number are drawn from 1–49, with prizes awarded according to the numbers matched. Every play also receives an entry into the Gold Ball Draw, which guarantees a winner of either $1 million or the growing Gold Ball Jackpot.
Jackpot & Rollover
Lotto 6/49 offers two jackpot opportunities with every play. The Classic Draw has a fixed jackpot of C$5 million, which is won or shared by entries matching all six Winning Numbers. The separate Gold Ball Jackpot starts at C$10 million and increases by C$2 million after each draw in which the Gold Ball is not drawn, up to a maximum of C$68 million. Each Gold Ball Draw guarantees a winner of either C$1 million or the current Gold Ball Jackpot. Once the Gold Ball Jackpot is won, it resets to C$10 million.
