About US Powerball
US Powerball is a multi-state American lottery drawn every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Five Winning Numbers are drawn from 1–69, together with one Powerball from a separate set of 1–26.
How It Works
Each standard US Powerball play consists of five numbers selected from 1–69 and one Powerball selected from 1–26. Five Winning Numbers and one Powerball are drawn. There are nine prize tiers according to how many Winning Numbers are matched and whether the Powerball is also matched. Matching all five Winning Numbers plus the Powerball wins or shares the jackpot. Players may also add the optional Power Play feature, which increases most non-jackpot prizes by the multiplier drawn for that drawing.
Jackpot & Rollover
US Powerball is a jackpotting lottery with a starting jackpot of US$20 million. If there is no jackpot winner, the prize rolls over to the following draw and continues to increase until it is won. The jackpot is won by matching all five Winning Numbers plus the Powerball. If more than one entry wins the jackpot, the available prize is shared between the winning entries. Jackpot winners may generally choose between the advertised annuity value, paid through 30 graduated annual payments, or a lower one-time cash option.
